A.D 2017
»Have a shot of rum, quick, and now sing..1,2,..and record».
“No time for losers, if we’re ever to perform in Tokyo we have to get started..”
And so it started in 2017. The band was informally formed a late night in Bergen, Norway. Back then it was not called NEGATIVIUM but »Klanghore», due to our love for massive amounts of reverb.
A year before Håkon had delved into the world of home studio recording, and now was the time to put his (lack of) skills to the test.
The first attempt to capture our greatness was our version of Tom Petty’s “Free Falling”.
More than a month was spent mixing and tweaking. The result was amazing we thought. Proud and quite content with ourselves we were sure this would give the professional studios a run for their money. Of course, looking back, the reality was that the mix was awful.
But such details can’t hold us back, onwards! New songs needed recording, and we had, and still have a lot of songs in our archive.
Which brings us to the creative powerhouse that is Kathrine. Her mind constantly working on new lyrics.
With the guitar on her lap, some bad dating experiences fresh in memory, and she would write down a new song quicker than Taylor Swift can say ”I’m gonna write a new song, and it will be a about a bad relationship experience”
Kathrine has now gone from the guitar to the piano as her main instrument, but we’ll get to that later..
With “Free Falling” and a bit more experience in the bag it was time for new songs to be recorded. The next song out was one of our own original ones.
Enter “Tokyo”
To be continued…
